About Morgan Picks
My name is Marc Morgan. I started my career as a toolmaker back in 1996. Over the years, I've worked as a toolmaker, machinist, teacher, and — for a few years — even as a policeman.
Although I've never played guitar or bass myself, I've always been a huge fan of rock and metal. My journey into making guitar picks started more or less by coincidence in 2016. At the time, I needed a project to properly learn how to operate some new machinery — specifically an injection molding machine and an EDM machine — as part of my work teaching future toolmakers and machinists.
I decided to make something small, precise, and useful… and after a few early attempts, the SJ1 pick was born. Over time, word spread, and I began designing more models, including signature picks for a number of bands and guitarists — from Týr (Faroe Islands) to Gary Holt (Slayer).
At one point, life happened. I had to take a break for health reasons — not because I wanted to stop, but because I simply had too much on my plate. I never let go of the idea, though.
In 2023, I picked it up again. I designed new models, learned a lot of new things, and now — in 2025 — I'm ready to fully commit to Morgan Picks. You can now find my picks on Amazon and through a growing number of music shops. See the "Where to buy" page for more.

FAQ
If you want me to add a question, please send it to marc@morgan-picks.com
1. What material are you using?
The plastic used is Delrin, or a plast-type close to it. It's chosen for the relatively good wear-resistance as well as it's properties in terms of molding well. It's nice and easy to work with.
The plastic itself is food-grade, hence non-toxic. I am looking to get glow in the dark, which also is safe to use.
I am using this one type due to the overall good properties, which also helps me keep the price reasonable. I tried different types, that may stand out in some areas, but are making the process more difficult, hence more expensive.
2. Why did you stop in 2019 and why did you start again?
Initially I started making picks right when I got my youngest daughter in 2016. It's always been a hobby, but I've spend hundreds of hours making picks, especially in 2017 and 2018. Not knowing how to do all stuff made it stressful, when also having a little child and a somewhat tight budget. The setup didn't earn money, but I did learn a lot! And had a lot of fun, making picks for a lot of nice people, the support were heartwarming.
Eventually I had to shut it down, as the setup with no retailers stressed me along with other things going on in my life.
2023 and onward: In 2023 I partnered up with a former apprentice and we did get a somewhat decent setup. Due to different priorities and ambitions we split up in early 2025.
I decided to do things as always intended, and got help to go on Amazon. I will get an official page later this year, but for now I am having a guy help me.
I restarted the collaboration with Merch City, and got things set up in a nice way, that gives you a solid rebate when buying at least 3 bags.
All in all, I'm on the right track to make it really good. My setup is improving, and I'm here to stay. I love doing this!
3. International shipping? Buying in general
On the "where to buy" page, you have different options.
The official store has world wide shipping, and when buying at least 3 bags, I pay the shipping in Denmark, and a big chunk if outside Denmark. Somwhere between 6 and 7 Euros/USD's.
I have a list of shops as well in that section. I recommend buying there if possible, to support your local gear-dealer.
I do not sell directly to costumers, as I need to focus on my family, regular job, development etc. It's much better when you buy through established sellers and Amazon.
4. Do you make costum orders?
No. I make picks differently than most pick-makers out there. It would be absurdly expensive to get me to make you a costum model.
I make the picks I feel like making, and I think would fit in the line-up. I need to feel it to make it. Also, I don't think I'll make thinner models, as lots of manufacturers do that. I want to make something you want, but can't get elsewhere.
I have made some costum models for a range of bands and guitarists, and I will make more I'm sure. I really like making stuff for musicians I like. But back to when I stopped, if I don't do it because I really want to, it becomes a chore and a headache. It has to be fun! There's a lot of hard work involved, but this part has to be fun.
5. Where do I get in touch with you?
My mail is at the bottom, but I do prefer the Facebook page or Instagram. I'm not too good at using social media and messaging, but I do practice that. My main focus is to make the picks, and make things smooth to buy.
I will go to guitarshows and concerts, and if you see me, you're more than welcome to come say hi! When at home though, I enjoy just making stuff and chill, and try to stay a bit off social media in general.
6. How are Morgan Picks different to others?
My take on picks is a bit different than others. As a toolmaker, it's natural for me to make the shape I want, not just the easiest one.
You can get all kinds of flat picks, some may have a bit grip, but in general, there isn't much variation. There are some niche pick makers, who make something unique, but they are often in an other tier-list, price wise.
My goal is to make something where high quality is combined with a fairly low price. And how is that possible? When making everything myself, while working a full-time job, I have the luxury of spending the time and effort necessary without the need to rush or to spend money on development. Through the years I have made 10+ models of witch 10 is for sale now.
